Family fun

Last weekend was a fun one, we got to see family from both sides. On Saturday, we drove down to Colorado Springs to see David's grandparents, it was the first time that they and Mason had met!

Mason loved visiting with them, and soon made himself at home, playing in front of their full-size mirror!

Here he is with his Great Grandma Ishoy

And here he is with Daddy and Great Grandpa Ishoy playing with one of his favorite balls

The next day was my Dad's birthday, so we were able to visit with my side of the family and help him celebrate.

As soon as I put Mason down, he made a bee-line for the pot cupboard, (I have no idea how he knew which one it was) and immediately selected this pan as his new companion. :)

Great Grandpa Barker was also at the party.

It is nice that the weather has gotten a lot warmer, so the cousins (and a Daddy and an uncle) were able to enjoy some time outside.

Katie is always such a nice aunt and plays with the kids.

But also, with the nice weather, it was discovered that there are voles living in the backyard and eating up the grass! David and Brandon jumped at the chance to try to drown them out of their hole in the compost pile.

I love naptime!

Can I just say that I love getting Mason to sleep....there's something about holding a crying baby in your arms when he suddenly gives into sleep. He stops crying, leans his head against your shoulder, but never releases the grasp that his tiny arms have around your neck. You then have a sweet little angel in your arms, that 2 seconds earlier was squirmy and fussy; there is just nothing else that can compare to that! That's all...

Two peas in a pod

These past couple weeks have been kind of hard for the two boys in our family. They both were diagnosed with a double ear infection. David and Mason were placed on antibiotics, David two weeks ago, and Mason just one week ago. David's wasn't clearing up, he was beginning to have trouble hearing, so he had to go back to the doctor and get some prescription decongestion medication. Mason started to feel better right away, but was still not feeling his best until just today. Since this is Mason's 4th ear infection since December, his doctor said that if he gets two more before summer, we will have to put tubes in his ears.

Here is a picture of the two sick patients when they were both feeling under the weather, I'm glad that they could comfort each other!

Mason wants to walk!

It all started with Mason trying to pull himself up on everything: tables, chairs, mommy's legs, piano benches...and then he
found something even more fun...

Before we knew it, Mason had discovered his fun toy with wheels....

He soon became an expert at pushing it down the hall. We know that his first unassisted steps are not too far away! :)

Mason learning to climb the stairs

As soon as he could, Mason made his way over to our stairs every chance that he got. At first it was no problem, because all he could do was get on the first step, and he was entertained for quite awhile like that.

But it wasn't too long before he realized that he had the ability to climb more. Once he started, he could not keep himself away! To this day, he still continues to practice his climbing skills whenever possible.
Here he is at the top of our 15 stairs. If you look closely, you can see that he brought a sock up with him on his journey. Almost always, he likes to bring some sort of item with him when he climbs. :) Also, notice the short short hair cut that his Daddy gave him a few days earlier.

Getting pictures caught up

So, after searching the area by the computer 3-4 times, I finally found the camera cord, so I could load more recent pictures. Yeah, I know, I should clean up that area a little more frequently. Anyways...there are about 2 1/2 months worth of pictures, and I'm having the hardest time deciding which ones to put up. I will try to narrow it down a little bit.

Mason is such a good boy, he already loves to help with the laundary, I think one of the things that intrigues him the most is the dryer! He even likes to make sure that we have plenty of clothes to wash, here he is eating a banana cookie. Aren't I just the luckiest mom ever to have such an adorable, smiley baby? (I apologize for the choppiness of this post, I'm still getting used to the layout of this blog thing)

Introduction

Well, I have decided that a blog may be the best way for us to keep our personal family history. I have been feeling guilty about not writing in my journal enough, so hopefully this will help me to keep a better record of our life! I think that if it is something online, I will be more prone to keep it updated.
Plus, I know that everyone wants to see recent pictures of our cute little Mason! It would be too hard to go back 9 months and talk about all of Mason's cute little milestones, so we'll just start right now. He is very active and learning more and more every day. I will have to start with a pictures that are a couple of months old, as I cannot find the cord to connect the camera to the computer...but more recent ones are soon to come.

This picture is of Mason a few weeks after his first real haircut (not counting the one when he was a week old and Daddy decided to trim some scraggles). We love making his hair spiky!

Every where we go, people comment on how rosy Mason's cheeks are. He's not too hot, he's not sick, he just has rosy cheeks! I have heard it could be a symptom of teething, and considering he has 7 already, I'm thinking that may be the reason.

This picture was taken when Mason was 7 months old...he LOVES this wooden spoon, and playing with the pots on the floor. Back then, I got the pots out for him...now, at 9 months, the funnest part for him is taking them out himself and discovering how they can land on the floor.
